: Why not get a brand new one? Besides, a "real" Struer isn't
: stripbuilt but made with very thin and delicate veneer, lightweight and
: beautiful.

Hi Sand,

Buying a new molded veneer Struer costs lots more than building a woodstrip
version. And besides, this is a boat building site, not a boat buying site :)

I agree that a molded veneer hull is beautiful, but a stripper is also and
can meet the 26lb minumum weight requirement for a 1970's Olympic Sprint K-1.
I know a paddler who built a woodstrip Sprint C-2 and finished in 6th place
with it at the 1972 Oympics.

Very few molded veneer kayaks are homebuilt, though there is no good reason
why not. Perhaps this could be your first boatbuilding project.

Regards, Tom
