: A crack developed in my GP. It's not from use, it must have stemmed from a
: fault in the wood. I was thinking I would use a dremel and a pointy
: grinding tool to route out the wood around the crack (maybe 1/8" or
: 3/16" wide) and fill with thickened epoxy. I was also thinking I
: would glue in a dowel perpendicular to the crack. Does this seem
: reasonable?

If you put in a few perpendicular dowels over the length of the crack, strength won't be an issue. Just mix the epoxy with sawdust from the same kind of wood, fill the cracks, and sand it smooth (Nick calls this mixture "dookie shmutz" in his book).
