The aim is to have a very thin glue line which is effectively invisible. That normally happens if your scarf is fairly neat and you clamp it.

Trying to use paint to cover the glue and match the timber would be a nightmare. The timber changes colour when the epoxy is added and it changes colour with age. So if you started with paint that was perfect match, within no time at all, it would stand out more than a thin glue line.

: When it's necessary to join two strips, either butt to butt or scarfing, and
: before fiberglassing over the joint, is there anything you can use to
: cover the glue line? Has anyone tried a thin line of paint matched to the
: color of the wood? Or is there anything else? Thanks.
