: Hi Andy

: I did just the same about six months ago - lofted and cut the forms from
: Nick's book for a Guillemot. For the middle of the boat, I imagine that
: small deviations of here and there won't matter, but I would think that
: the sectional forms close to the bow and stern are pretty important to get
: right, especially close to the waterline.

: For my part, I found mounting them on the strongback the more difficult task.
: I wrote it all up on a blog (see link below). Note if you are building a
: Guillemot there is a minor discrepancy between the end forms and the
: relevant sectional forms which had me scratching my head for a while (see
: pic and link)

: Good luck!

: Regards, Ian

Actually bow and stern forms arn't nearly as important as the sections shapes. Changing the ends will change the appearance of the boat, but generally won't make any difference in performance unless the change is huge.

I'd want the section shapes, the station forms to be very close to that designed or you'll have unfair shapes in the boat. Might not make a huge difference in the performance but with the time it takes to build one of these starting out with built in mistakes seems a waste. To me anyway.
