I surprised myself recently by discovering that I bought a two-part dry suit some time ago. I must have been thinking of late fall paddling on the icy river when I did this. If I recall, I bought the setup impulsively when I discovered a sale happening. The two part suit was significantly less expensive than the combined one-piece suit which retails for $1000. I think I paid less than $400 for the two-part suit.

As far as taking a cell phone goes, knowing me, I'd get it wet. I bought Mark 111 VHF radio two years ago in anticipation of next years romp through Lake Winnipeg and Hudson Bay. At least it's waterproof. Incidently, I haven't dunked my latest 35-mm SLR yet: the high price for the camera/lens set up continues to be a dunk-deterent.
