It took five years to build but I finally finished my second Expedition Single as a matched pair (mirrored) to my first!

The new one is in the foreground and the red cedar has not yet darkened to fully match the other yet.

I put a skeg on this one, not that the design really needs it, but simply because I wanted to have at least one kayak with one and for those really occasional times when I'm in large quartering waves from the rear. With the skeg deployed it feels like I'm on rails.

Mistakes: I put the forward bulkhead about 6" too close to the cockpit, I don't know how I managed it but I don't need those fancy foot pegs I bought!!! I'll probably move it sometime next year. Its fine for me but doesn't fit one of my sons and perhaps that's a good thing because I'll finally have a kayak to call my own. My wife claimed the first cedar strip and I always somehow end up with "the barge"!

I hope the photo shows up, it did in my preview. It don't like those threads where it takes 20 tries before the photo finally show up!!! I'm sure you know what I mean!!

If you're ever in the Ottawa area (capital of Canada!) drop in for a chat or even a paddle!
