I've built two strippers and a hybrid now, all without b&c. (In fact, I have unused b&c cutters I don't know what to do with.) My impression, based on this board's exchanges, is that b&c has no clear advantage for decks--where most of the fine work happens--and is mostly confined to hulls, if even there. The fine lines shown here are 3/16 by 3/16 strips made simply by ripping an existing 3/16"-thick strip to create a square cross section. Double width (3/8")strips are also shown. I've found Joe Greenley's work at Redfish to be very inspirational--and intimidating--but you really can't build an ugly stripper, and this is enough encouragement, I think. As for working with the strips, I've done it both ways: attaching skinny ones to standard off the boat, then attaching the combination to the hull; and simply gluing the skinnies to the hull strips directly. I think the latter is much easier, as the forms establish a rough level, and clamps between stations do the rest.

Just go for it!
