Material: minwax wood putty

I have used minwax wood putty to fill staple holes in my kayak. Unfortunately I found out AFTER I had applied it that it NEVER hardens. Does anyone know if this putty will be OK to use.?? My concern is that it will cloud the epoxy/fiberglass finish.
