: I am trying to refurbish a mistreated strip kayak. I have no idea of what
: materials it was built with. It has some areas that have dark stains under
: the glass. I have gone down to the wood on those spots. The glass came off
: very easily. In fact that worries me a bit. Other areas have a white haze
: or worse. I think what ever varish might have once been on it is long gone
: and I am not sure how much of the resin is left on top of the glass.

: I want to do the refurbish correctly, but I don't want to do more work than
: is prudent. Any thoughts? I guess re-glassing a boat is a whole lot work
: than building one.

: How much epoxy does it take to do a boat on the outside of the hull only--it
: is 14 feet long 25 inches wide or so and has a totaly flat bottom.

It's alot easier to just strip the hull and wood the whole thing (take down to bare wood). You really don't want to capture and seal in rot.

I've always bought resin by the gallon and glass by the roll, so I'm no help with figuring out how much to buy, I just use what it takes.
