: Someone linked to this in another forum and I was just mesmerized
: watching it. Partly because it is such a lost art and partly
: because I love (and use) hand tools a lot. But this makes my
: hand tools look modern! Anywa, it was filmed in the 40's and we
: get to watch a Pirogue made from felling the tree to it's first
: paddle.

On a tangent;
There are probably some posters here who were/are about the same age as some of the kids in that movie.
(It is at least POSSIBLE !, they would be in their mid/late 60s now - HELLO !)

If so and if they would reply;
Was everyone REALLY that slim and active ~60 years ago ?
There aren't any "pudgy kids" or beer guts on the adult males.
Is the obesity epidemic really that RECENT in the US ?
Were folk just undernourished then and there ?

Just curious - and BTW thanks for the link I have been watching quite a few of those folk films.
