I have used a dremel with a router attachment for inlays. Great if you want something other than straight lines.

Also copper wire and solder work well. Sanded and buffed they give a good shine.

I have yet to do an inlay on a stripper. But I laid my first strip on my first stripper yesterday. If Bill's fears of splitting may be true I may glue a 1/8 plywood piece on the opposing side of the inlay for reinforcing. Below is a sample. Not a finished inlay.
