I'm about to put a nylon skin on a 15-ft. Yost Sea Otter R. 12 oz. material from Skin Boat School, with 2 part urethane. I've been watching the videos.

What can I use in place of that nifty heated cutting tool? I guess I'd buy one if it was $20, but haven't seen one. I presume there's benefit to melty-fibers, over just a razor cut. Is there a commonly used alternate tool?

I've been away a while. But, it seems I had read here that the stitching should be done in a cool environment, as that's when the nylon is most expanded. Is that right?
