Skin-on-Frame: Coelan topcoat

Hello,

I'm in the proces of making my first SOF kayak, after a couple of S&G's, and have a question about coating the skin.

I've read Coelan is the top product to use, but it's quite expensive and i was thinking of using epifanes or le tonkinois oil based varnish and topping it of with a coat of Coelan silk.

I've posted this question on the Greenland forums but no responses yet and i thought i'd try here as well. I've asked Tony Nuskin at premapro the same question (but put it a little) but haven't had an answer yet.

Would it be a good idea or should i go full Coelan to get Coelan's full benefits for SOF skin ?
