: I have been looking for a shop to build a kayak for a long time.
: Now I think I have found one. There's just one drawback: I have
: to store the kayak outside during the daytime, when I´m not
: building. My plan is to put it in a large wooden box (to protect
: it from weather and vandalism) with casters under it, so i´m
: able to move it around during the build.
: But how do I make a strongback that is stable enough to be moved?
: I´m especially worried about the glue joints between the
: strips.
: I have see a few descriptions for mobile stands, but I don´t know
: how they will work when the kayak must be moved daily.
: Any ideas are welcome.

I've played with various stronbacks and finally settled on the simple one on Tom Yost's site, bolt together 2x4's with a 1x6 top. I use it for the SOF classes and have moved it for each class, seems to work just fine and it's very simple and can be taken apart to allow for easier storage.
