: In looking through the thread, some of you apply epoxy to the
: paddles, some epoxy and tung oil, lots of variation. My question
: is this: nobody mentions varnish over the epoxy. Doesn't UV
: degrade the epoxy? I'm inclined to use a penetrating oil finish,
: and refresh it from time to time. Will enough water soak a
: paddle treated thusly to make it a heavy, sodden club? Thanks,
: Mark

I only oil mine and they don't seem to change weight in the least. The water that can migrate into the wood thru the coating can also migrate out when the paddle isn't in use.
