: I built a wood frame Yost Sea ranger last year and would like to be
: able to eskimo roll it, but not sure what additional outfitting
: is required. I am currently building float bags, sea sock, and
: deck rigging.
: What I don't have is:
: -seat (sitting on wooden slats, actually fairly comfortable for the
: short trips I have done)
: -backband
: -foot braces or anything for my
: -thighs support (I have found I can brace my thighs on the skin
: quite comfortably.)

: Can I learn to roll without these items?

Btw, footbraces: A few builders have installed extra partial stringers between two frames to mount the footbraces on. For me the boat is so light I can't bring myself to add the weight. It's really nice having a sub 30 lb. kayak.
