I recently rescued my kayak from a guy that took it years ago and never brought it back. (Technically he borrowed it, but when you don't bring it back that's what I call stealing it.) The kayak looked terrible, but I sanded and sanded and got the thing almost good as new. The deck hatches had warped and I steamed them back to shape except one was a little stubborn. With torquing it down to the kayak it has come back into shape as well. I suggest you wash the stain down with acetone and then bleach mixed with water at about 33% bleach to 66% water. You can move up on the bleach to 50/50 but I'd start with less. Here is what the kayak looked like before, and I will post another reply to this with the after...
