: Seems like I can never get more than about 4 months out of a
: varnish job. Not on the garage queens, but the current favorites
: I paddle practically every day, and which tend to live on the
: racks 24-7. I love my wood boats, but refinishing is becoming a
: bigger and bigger PITA in my life. So what do I need to do,
: figure out a better finish, or improve my attitude towards
: sandpaper and varnish-slinging?

: This is getting serious! It has already led to the purchase of two
: commercial boats, and if that weren't horrific enough all by
: itself, I am already in the process of baking them to death too!

4 months is stretching it too.

I tried a marine wax, and floor finish stuff...made it shiny, the varnish still went downhill fast though.

lately I've just been scuffing with a green scotch pad and foam brushing the walmart varnish on with bungies and rigging
still on. Actually works pretty good...3-4 coats.

also at oreilly's auto parts they sell clear coat in a spray can cheap...i got some for $3.00, can color sand and buff it...
have'nt tried it yet.
