I have made a Scout version and I hated the frame- I love the yostworks frames though- I didnt varnish my canvas at all, I painted it with exterior latex paint, the hull has four coats the deck has three. I didn't have any issues with the canvas sagging in any way it stayed drum tight, and still is, I built it 2 summers ago. I also have a second frame of the same style that my nephew started and my son just took over (lack of interest from the nephew) and he is skinning it with duct tape, man is that sucker gonna be heavy! :)
