Strip: second coat fiberglassing

fiberglass lay so pretty. Putting on the first coat of resin went easy (Mas). Waited 9 hours...not tacky...starting to hard up. Put on the 2nd coat with a roller that was for Epoxy use (green). Darn, I thought the 2nd coat would hide the fiberglass weave completely...it didn't. Wanted my Kayak WOOD to look so shiny...especialy all that exotic stuff I used. Curious?!? Does the weave always show thru? Did I not put enough 2nd coat on? If I put a 3rd coat, will the weave disappear? Will the weave disappear after multiple coats of varnish? OR...is the weave appearance standard on wood strip kayaks? think maybe my Beginner Status gave me too lofty of expectations on how wood would show with the fiberglass on???!?
ALSO. I practiced overlapping two pieces because I want to make the top deck piece overlap the hull by 2-3 inches. But...even though I sanded lightly the place where overlap occurred...it was still pretty evident. SOLUTIONS...anyone?
