: paddle, since it promotes water shedding from the center of the
: blade out to both sides, just like dihedral blade does. With a
: canted stroke, you want water flow across the surface of the
: blade in one direction only, from lower edge to top edge. A
: smoothly contoured blade enhances that flow.

I also find the diamond shape helps to hold the proper cant angle, at least for me.

I sometimes love the assumptions made here.
