Thanks - I missed that part! Looks like a winner, though on mine I'm contemplating leaving the Yakimas out and using a closed foam forward bulkhead, and bracing against that, instead. Saves several pounds (if it works).

Interesting variation for the hatch lip. I ran strands of carbonfiber around the inside and outside rim, next to the foam gasket, then finished off with the strips of fiberglass and epoxy - very lightweight, looks interesting (I'm not up to your standards of 'good') and strong. Lots of ways, I guess.
