: Hey, thanks for remembering! Getting there. Had a few things get in
: the way - we moved house before Christmas, and our new house has
: no garage, so I'm working on the boat in my parents' garage
: about a 15min drive away. Which slowed progress. Then the usual
: delays during the year, and then an earthquake last week!

: But progress has continued. Blog is a fair way behind, I have
: glassed the hull and top of deck, and finished the cockpit riser
: last night. Might glass it tonight. Still deciding whether to do
: a laminated wood lip a la Nick, or a composite lip a la Vaclav.
: I was going to go composite but I think I will try laminated
: wood after all.

: How are you getting on?

: Regards, Ian

Hi Ian, my build also suffered from a slow period due to my wedding. I vertually took from the middle of June till now to get started again.
I have gottten a hold of some walnut and lyptus so I am working on a deck lay out now that is going slowly due to too many decisions on the look I want, but I plan on posting a pic or two as soon as I have the deck lay out done. I have chosen a wavy lay out with two strips of pine wrapped in a quarter inch piece of lyptus bordered by a quarter inch piece of walnut, with a walnut center strip also a quarter. The cockpit cutout will also mirror this, with the rim of the cock pit being walnut as well as the stems.
Stems are not in place yet either.

What glass layup did you do? And more to the point how much epoxy have you used and what do you figure it will take. I plan on using thayercrafts 3.2 oz. , 40x40 cloth, and silvertip epoxy, finished in autoclear.

An earthquake, where do you live?

All the best,
Dave g
