Ross,

You are correct. The form #1 cannot just be split and re-attached to the end form. I talked to Nick and he anticipated that form #1 was going to have its center cut out by the thickness of the endform. I notched both so they fit like a saddle into each other which maintained the pointed shape of form #1 (which, before considering the internal stem, I thought was important). Again, I thought it was important to keep the pointed shape of form #1, however, that form is replaced by the internal stem. So I am cutting off the point of form #1 where the internal stem will lie.
