It's about 10 to 11 inches long, one inch at the tallest. Just mount it back so it is shallower than the bottom of the boat, I think mine starts about 3 feet forward, so somewhere around station 14? That way it won't pick up sea weed or other vegetation. (Keep it below the waterline tho.. :-)

Good luck if you decide you need the skeg.
