: Hi guys,
: Finished stripping deck this morning and removed hull (prematurely)
: from forms because both sides popped off stations a couple
: inches down sheer line weeks ago. I couldn't fair and sand deck
: without hull getting destroyed. I guess staple-less construction
: has it's drawbacks...Oh yeah, you weren't kidding when you said
: easy on the hotmelt! I have some serious cleaning up.

: Anyway, the hull deflected bigtime when I pryed it off and put in
: sheer strips. when I do join the two halves I'm concerned about
: flushing out the bow and stern ends. I know I may have to
: manipulate it with clamps and packing tape etc. My question
: concerns adding solid cedar blocks opposed to an end pour. If I
: add blocks now, I won't be able to sgueeze the bow and stern
: together to match deck.

: What is the procedure? Do you all use blocks? Nick's book was a
: little vague but I think I understand how he does his endpour
: but I like the idea of drilling tow rope hole through a block.

: As always, any advice greatly appreciated
: Jim

I don't do end pours either, too much weight and too expensive. I use inner stems, staple and glue the strips to it when I'd stripping the hull, so I don't have to play with end blocks afterwards. I do use a bit of thickened epoxy to fill the V shaped area near end very ends on either side of the stem so the toggle lines can pass thru solid material, but it's very little volume and it's a very dry mix so there is little epoxy and lots of filler.
