If you're careful, power planes make for happy people. My fingers tingle when I even think about one, lost a bit of skin to one a number of years back, luckly lost no function in the process. I did lose an entire summer with a bandaged hand, trying to save 5 minutes of time sometimes can cost alot.

I've still got two of them, but I prefer the slow and steady work of a good sharp hand plane most of the time.
