I put together a basic wood and boat weight estimating calculator on my website: http://www.guillemot-kayaks.com/guillemot/blog/nick/strip_planked_boat_material_and_weight_calculator
It uses the surface area of boat to estimate how many strips are needed and how much wood you will need to buy to get those strips. You can select strip thickness and width. You can also specify cloth type (i.e. 4 ounce or 6 ounce etc.) to get an estimate on final "bare boat" weight.
