Skin-on-Frame: Canoe update *PIC*

Just a little update on my SOF sailing canoe - now named the "Olympia," after a friend's kid (and the warship, of course!).

It sails!
Just super, in fact. I've had it out twice. Once in light air and, the first time, in screaming heavy (and highly shifty) air. In light air she's amazingly responsive, even with just the una rig. In heavy air, I only had a borrowed 20sq ft lugsail - but I still got her up on a plane for about 5 seconds!

I've learned that I need to scarf an extra foot or so onto the bottom of the mast, as I'm too old to duck that low under the boom anymore. More sail testing to come, hopefully in some medium air. I've got high hopes, and am encouraged, so far.

Dave

Here she is, on a reach in light air. Any more wind and I could have gotten out on the hiking board, instead of kneeling on the back deck.
