: I'm ready to install the outwales and would like to add scuppers.
: I'd like to attach a rope bumper by lacing it to the outer edge
: of the outwale and the openings would allow that (w/o epoxying
: the rope on as I had to do in a skiff I built). I know that
: scuppers are supposed to be on the INSIDE to aid in dumping all
: the water out. However, after looking at many pictures of wood
: boats with inwale scuppers I realized that it's not obvious that
: they ARE on the INSIDE. How ridiculous do you think they'll look
: on the outside? Also, would any scuppers at all look dorky in an
: 8' pram?

: BTW, I HAVE decided to add a sail rig to the Coot (Nicks 8' pram
: design). The mast is at frame 2 and the center of the 11"
: DB is at 4 (~24"). I'm investigating sail types to build
: that are versatile and changeable enough to solve any handling
: problems I may have with my mast & DB placement. Wish me
: luck.
: Any suggestions? (see earlier post)
: Thanks, Harry

So what exactly would be the point in having them on the outside of the boat? To add weight?
