I decided to upload a few of the pics of my rack system just to show it off.

I have a Yakima setup that includes permanently mounted "tracks" that mount to the roof of my truck with what Yakima calls "plus nuts". With the "tracks" mounted permanently to my trucks roof, I used another Yakima item they call "Landing Pads" which mount on the tracks and can be moved fore and aft as needed. The bars are held to the "landing pads" by a set of lockable "control towers". I have a set of 58" and 78" bars that I use depending upon what I am carrying.

What I like most about this set-up is that I can put the racks are not permanent and can be installed or removed in just a couple of minutes. When I don't need them, no wind noise or drag.

I've had this set-up for almost 5 years and have never had an issue with it. And, I've used it a lot and loaded it down a number of times. I like this set-up so well that I will do the same on my next truck.

I will post several of the pics that are also on the photobucket link in my last post. One of the pics shows it loaded with a canoe and two kayaks for a 600 mile trip my family took a couple of years ago...
