In Response To: Epoxy: winter cold (Scott Shurlow)

: So I have been working on my Popsicle stick paddle and am at the
: point of epoxy-ing the layers together. My problem is the temps
: in my shed. Its basically as warm as the outside if not slightly
: colder (it heats up slowly and leaks air). I do have a wood
: stove inside it.
: Since I'm working with a small object, could I fire up the stove
: and let the forms/paddle sit on top the stove for a couple hours
: and then wait a really long time to let it cure?
: I'm in central Vermont and we are currently topping out in the 30s
: for a daily high. I also have an electric heater but prefer the
: "free-ness" of the heat coming from my wood stove. I'm
: using a 3:1 medium cure epoxy.
: Thanks,
: Scott

The surface of my wood stove can get above 500 degrees F. You will need a few cinder blocks or bricks to get the paddle off the surface of the stove. You might consider some styrofoam insulation glued to the walls and or some PE sheeting.
