Here's a closer view of the strips. I routed the bead and cove after staining and you can see lighter color of the beaded edge because the ebonizing treatment pretty much just affects the surface. This doesn't concern me because I already expected to have to restain these areas after fairing. I stained the strips before putting them on to make sure they were going to darken appropriately (some strips, especially those with sapwood, do not stain well with the vinegar/iron).
