Classic Boat Kits' Errors

:I can't begin to tell you all how frustrating an ordeal this was.

We can certainly begin see a little of it here, but the trouble with the rest of us drawing conclusions is that we don’t have control of the evidence or know if there are any side issues. However on the face of it:

- You purchase a set of 20 or so forms of which at least 6 have substantial deviations from plans. You later purchase a second set from another vendor in which there is no substantial plan deviation.

- From what I see on your videos, the major deviations have nothing to do with symmetry fixes but much more to gross proportion errors in height and width.

- You complain to the first vendor and you, Rob, and everyone else who built from plans gets scorn, while the vendor professes perfection and disengagement.

- From what we see of Rob’s response and demonstration, symmetry issues with 2 main forms in question are not discernible.

The one possibility that I can think of is that the first kit supplier received a warped/reduced set of plans caused by printer error (this happens now and again), tried to ‘correct’ them without contacting the designer while assuming that the designer didn’t care about symmetry and proportion.

But I find that hard to balance with a kit supplier who is experienced in architectural and graphic design where checking drawing size and proportion would be a natural and easy first check.

So some questions, Peter:
1) Why are the form widths deviating?
2) Are the form drawings you used warped and reduced?
3) Or what else could be going wrong to cause this?
4) Is the complaint rational now?
