One $olution is to buy bigger and better quality planks. Get yourself a nice clear 4" thick 20 foot WRC plank and cut your strips from that!

Seriously, if you organize your strips as you cut them (number them, tie in bunches) you can control the color a bit better.

However, it is wood. If you want a really consistent color, it has to be plastic or paint IMO.
