I'm intrigued by the notion of using something other than a setting glue so that the takeoff was quick and the tool reusable - sort of a 90 shift from a finger contour gauge.
- so what if hot glue was used every 4" or so and bring out the heat gun. (an idea, but prob not that great for long or for quickness or for use in the field)
- what if a pinching clamp (strong spring or tiny c-clamp) was used every 4" or so (maybe heavy or unwieldy but possible if right light clamping setup)
- or slots thru all lams every 4" or so and a threaded stud with a threaded knob on top - that might be a possible.
- maybe thin steel bands with rare earth mags on top every few inches - maybe heavy but cool to try
