Give it a go, I would glue a small block to the end of the pinner to give it a bit of stand off so the pins stay proud of the surface.
Mine doesn't have a contact safety foot like the brad nailers, just two triggers, pull both and the thing fires off. So I cant see adding a block being any riskier.
