Try to put some weight in the front of the boat. This too can change the bow characteristics.
I have heard of paddlers loading their boat with an extra 50 pounds of weight just to make it handle correctly.
It's worth a try.
Even a dry bag filled with water then sealed up will work nice. Try to secure the load so it doesn't shift on you during rough water or rolls!
