LOL, you're right Clayton, no knot, I like a clean look. It's not really a big secret, I melted the 2 ends together and worked the splice into the Maroske fitting so you can't see it. I was surprised how strong the weld was! I tested it by pulling on it pretty hard repeatedly and could not get it to come apart. It takes a little practice to get a good joint. I used 4 clamps to stretch the shock cord; 2 to hold the cord and 2 to pull the clamps together and butt the ends together, then used my grille lighter to melt them together. I had gloves on and pinched the two together when there was a fair amount of melted material.

My justification for trying this and not being afraid to fail is that if they eventually come apart on the water I can always tie a knot temporarily.
