I don't know the Shearwater at all, but based on your desired characteristics, I would suggest looking at the One Oceans Kayak "Storm" or even the "Storm LT", depending on your weight and intended use. The "Expedition Sport" model looks interesting also. I have considered building the Storm for a fast day tripper. I have a Cape Ann for longer tripping.
