Epoxy: Epoxy bubbles

Well, my first experience with fiberglassing is not turning out well. I put on a seal coat, laid the fiberglass, put on one fill coat. When I put on the second fill coat I ended up with tiny bubbles, mainly in the front quarter of the kayak. Can I sand out these bubbles before I put on my next fill coat? And, how do I avoid these bubbles. I tried to eliminate them with my heat gun, but was afraid to apply too much heat. I finished my second coat about 15 hours ago. Thanks for the help.
