How much difference is there in the time it takes to get comfortable and reasonably efficient attaching strips, either bead and cove or beveled? This is my first build and I am planning on doing it stapleless. I have done a number of wood working projects but my work with a block plan is limited.

I know that everyone brings different skills but what would suggest for a first build?

One thought is to try beveling and if that is too slow then cut some B&C strips.

I have only done one stripper. Being cheap I went with the beveled strips for a stapleless build. No real problems to report although stapleless is somewhat slow, I would hang one strip per side at a session, only one or two sessions per day, ripping, thicknessing and scarfing a pair of strips for the next day. I could have done two or even three pairs a day, the glue setting is the limit. All handheld power tools; beveling with a low-angle block plane is easy.

Regrets? Just one: I used cedar planks intended for fencing, setting aside the rubbish for fence-fixing later and picking the good ones - about 50% - for the boat. The boat was intended as a training exercise. Having seen what beautiful results this method produces, I wish I had used better quality wood.
