Good day,

The best source for Sitka Spruce if you have deep pockets is Aircraft Spruce: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/wp/spruce.html Again- only for deep pockets, but rest assured they only sell the best of the best so at least there will be no waste and you'll have the best tight-grained spruce out there.

Also I have bought from Cook Woods and got the most insanely beautiful piece of Port Orford Cedar from them you have ever seen. They do carry spruce and given the quality of this cedar I would trust them if they say it's clear. Look down a few posts to my lapstrake cradle boat. That's the piece of cedar I'm referring to in the strakes. https://www.cookwoods.com/lumber-site/

Boulter Plywood is the best source on the east coast and they ship just about anywhere because they have shipped stuff to me offshore. They have spruce up to 20' lengths tight vertical grain at $10 to 11 per bft. http://www.boulterplywood.com/ Go to Products, Marine Lumber

NOTE: If you are in Canada I am not sure if you can buy US spruce. I know that in the US you can't buy certain Canadian woods any more due to regulations by the US. I ran into that once but can't remember if it was spruce or cedar I was trying to buy.

If you do find any good deals out there please keep me posted because I'm about to need a good bit of it for spars for my next project which is a 6M whale boat gaffed yawl rigged with bow and stern sprits... lots of sticks to make!!! So far I intend to use Boulter Ply for the spruce and the plywood and ship it all as one unit.
