I started actual assembly today, as my wife is out of town for a week and I can use the living room instead of my cramped workshop. Plan is to assemble the frame as much as possible, which will now be stored in the same place the kayak eventually will be, under the roof of our rear deck. I spent a bit of time redoing all of my layout measurements to verify accuracy, and found that two of my forms were ever so slightly off (by1/4 inch in one location each). This should be simple to correct for should I use them, however decided to forego the forms for now. I made some simple spacers from scrap with each end cut at a 25 degree angle, and concentrated on getting the gunwales pegged and lashed correctly. It was slow going, but as the gunwales are the backbone that everything else grows off of, I took my time. Tomorrow I hope to fit the deck beams, stem and stern, which will allow me to concentrate on the ribs the rest of the week.
