I don't doubt your ability to build that boat, but since you are a non-sailor, I don't think that you really have any basis to choose one design over another. Similarly, I would never recommend that a want to be pilot choose an aircraft before ever flying for the first time or that a want to be kayaker choose one kayak before ever paddling for the first time.

Just like planes or kayaks, there are many factors that go into choosing the best sailboat design for you. Where will you store it: dock, mooring, storage yard, garage? How will you transport? Where do you plan to use it, ocean, lake, river? What are the conditions, waves, wind, depth? How will you use it, day sails, overnighters, week long cruises? Home many people sailing? How many people sleeping? And the list of questions go on.

If you are interested in getting into sailing, do as I suggested above and get some lessons and some sailing time before you lock onto one design. That is pretty much the Mecca for small boat info and there are numerous boat builders who frequent there.
