I recommend those of my plans customers who plan to adjust the LOA, to measure the distance from the stern to the seat (since it is paddler's position that affects the longitudinal balance), then adjust this proportional to the LOA change (5% shorter = 5% shorter distance stern-seat). Then place the aft edge of the cockpit rim the same distance from the seat as in the standard length version (since this distance is important for comfortable layback rolls).

If the size of the cockpit hole is changed, it is still the aft edge alone that determines the position of the rim.
