Guess it depends on what one wants. For me personally I peel off the sock and shake it inside the canister and it's ready to go back on the filter. Takes about 30-45 seconds. Then I dump the sawdust from the cannister into empty coffee cans to use to make "donkey schmutz" - another 45 seconds. This saves me probably 3-4 minutes of filter cleaning in which time I can easily make 2-3 more mistakes :(
