Strip: bulkhead shape

After the post on bulkhead position: I will add that it always seems to fall in between stations. Here's how I did it. I would make a bulkhead to the size of the next forward station. I would cut it inside the line a bit. Put a drop light in the forward hatch opening. I would push the bulkhead in fastened by a stick and make note of where there is light and where I had to cut off some material. Usually in about 3 adjustments I am able to get a nice fit in the position I want.

I take that bulkhead (plywood) epoxy the edges and press it in position. The next day I run a filet with my finger from the front hatch opening. Then from the cockpit opening. If I can't reach it I use a tool like a stiff 1/2 wide artist brush.

I never have installed it during building when the hull is open and available. Maye that's a good idea? I just never have done it then.

I would be interested how others size it out.
