I built a Guil 17 and a Guil Play last year of Black Locust, Walnut, Cherry and Ash. Used 5/32" strips. I found no B&C worked easier for me. 40# and 39#, respectively. If you come from a hardwood background, it should be a piece of cake. I suspect the only difs are thinner strips, better block plane (I like Lie- Nielson 60 1/2), and belt sander for fairing. I'm going to try to do two more this winter, but I think the need to sleep might interfere at some point.
