I have built an Arctic Tern and a Golden Eye. Both are great boats and I don't see any need for concern about the building issues you mentioned that are unique to Pygmy boats. They go together beautifully. I think your question of stability may be more relevent for your stated use of the boats. These lightweight Sea Kayaks are stable as far as Sea Kayaks go, but for hands off binocular use, and the like, they might be a little skidish. Of course it depends on your previous experience and level of skill, but for me I know I could not have my hands off the paddle for too long with the Arctic Tern and I imagine the Osprey is not much different. CLC has some models pretty much designed for more stable use such as you mentioned. I have never built a CLC boat, but ...
